Microporous filtration
Microporous filtration works best with applications involving particulates and microorganisms, and is a useful addition to any system that also uses activated carbon filtration or deionization. It removes the carbon fines from the carbon system and the resin fragments and bacteria from the deionization one. It uses a membrane (or hollow fiber) with an absolute pore size of 0.2 micron that prevents passage any larger contaminant. Since NCCLS considers water to be particulate-free when it has been passed through a 0.2 micron filter, microporous filters are an important part of a many water purification systems.
