How full should my water softener resin be. |

Question
I have softener with packed resin bed (no head space). How does this effect how much resin I need. Any special inuctions for changing resin for a packed bed?
Answer
If it is a regenerating softener like most, it can not be packed,. it will not regenerate properly. Also if you mean truly packed, the pressure drop would be excessive.
If it is an exchange softener then it doesn't matter except for pressure drop.
