What type of resin do I need for water softener If I use city water (Houston Texas) and my tank is 9x48.

Answer

If you are on a city water supply, you usually only need standard water softener resin.

Here is a calculator that tell you how much you need :

The calculator shows you can use 1.15 ft3 (cubic foot) of resin so in this case you could use a 1 ft3 (cubic foot) bag of resin.

This is the resin 99% of softeners would use and certainly all softeners on city water feed.
