I am contacting you in regards to a price quote on a water system for our biology/chemistry department at Black Hills State University located in Spearfish, South Dakota. We currently have a Millipore integral 15 system and it has become really costly and time consuming to maintain. We got about a year and a half of good solid use out of the system and then it started giving us problems. I have replaced many of the parts and am now looking at having to spend another large chunk of money to replace a power supply board which may or may not fix the current issue. I am interested in at least a 50 liter per day capacity and a system that will produce di as well as 18.2 ultrapure water. I am just putting out some feelers to try to get an idea of what system would best fit our needs so any information you might have would be appreciated, thanks for your time.
Answer
What you are seeing in not uncommon. I do not know of a more expensive way to produce lab water then to use a Millipore water system.
We have many other options for you. The most economical solution is to use Reverse osmosis or distillation feeding a polisher unit. THere are always things you can do to greatly lower operating costs when producing lab water.
If you call us we would be very happy to help you come up with what fits your needs best.
In the mean time, you can also look at some of the options here keeping in mind we have many options and configurations not listed.
