| Water softeners that use fine mesh resin have the ability to remove up to 10 p.p.m. of dissolved iron. By using a smaller size resin bead the softener has more surface area for the iron to adhere to. The iron is rinsed to drain during the regeneration process. A resin cleaning system is recommended for people with extensive staining prior to installation of the softener.
