Since all carbon beds and carbon filters promote bacteria growth, it is best to follow this unit with an ultraviolet sterilizer
if you are concerned about bacteria in drinking water. Installation can be done by any plumber or do it yourselfer. Requires a drain line during backwash. Can also be fitted with a manual valve that you can connect a hose and run it outside or to a drain only when backwashing is desired.
