Question
We have an E-Pure system and we get all of our replacement filters from you. The last time we replaced the filters was the end of November and they are now breaking up again and clogging our final filter making our system unusable. Over these past 3 months, weve only used about 1200 L of water through the system. Why are we getting such poor performance? How do we troubleshoot a potentially larger issue? This getting too expensive for us.
Answer
That is really all a function of what type of water you are feeding the system with. Without knowing that, we can not really troubleshoot it.
The pluggage of the bacteria filter comes from only 2 things. Either you have a lot of particulates which usually always come from the feed source, or you have air in the filter that will make it turn hydrophobic if it gets wet, then air and they you try and pass water again. Make sure the filter is full of water otherwise it can take over 40 p.s.i. to overcome the surface tension on an airlocked filter.
The bacteria filter is essentially a screen and its capacity is solely dependent on what is in the water.
If you have a lot of bacteria in the water is would act just like a particulate and plug the filter. From your question I assume that the water still reaches quality but you are losing flow for the 0.22 filter.
Please call us and we would be happy to figure out what it causing your issue.
This high capacity four housing lab water system is designed to provide up to 3 l.p.m. of ultrapure water exceeding ASTM and CAP Type I, II or III specifications.
