I have a Barnstead purification unit for high purity water How often should the D3750 filter be replaced What are the symptoms of it going bad
Answer
The D3750 is a bacteria and particulate filter and is the final step to purification of the water.
The time to change it is based on several factors.
Since the filter only traps bacteria and does not kill it, the bacteria contributes it waste products to the final produced water. This waste would be Total organic carbon and Pyrogens.
The first measure as to when to change it in any case would be flow rate. As the filter becomes plugged the flow rate decreases. If you have a low flow rate first make sure the filter is full of water since air locking the filter will also cause low flow. If it has low flow and is full of water, then you would change the filter.
If you are only using the water for inorganic chemistry, then flow rate is the only criteria to change the filter.
If you are doing work that is affected by Total organic carbon or Pyrogens, then you would change the filter usually about every three months.
This high capacity four housing lab water system is designed to provide up to 3 l.p.m. of ultrapure water exceeding ASTM and CAP Type I, II or III specifications.
