Question
I have a bladder water tank and it was cutting on and off fairly fast. I checked the psi and it was on 23 so I inflated it to 28, the recommended setting, and the cutting off and on improved. Can I inflate it to a higher psi without creating other problems? Thanks
Answer
The more you inflate the air in a bladder the less water it will hold and it will make the cycle even shorter.
To get the most water capacity, set the bladder air pressure at 10-15 p.s.i. with the bladder empty of water. Of course this will stretch the bladder more and may shorten the life a bit. The normal air pressure is 25 p.s.i with a pressure switch gut on of 30 p.s.i.
The cycle is controlled by the pressure switch for the most part. Adjusting the cut on and off pressures on the switch will give you the best balance between pressure and reserve.
If the pump turns on within seconds after you open a faucet you will want to make sure you do not have a blown bladder.
