Hello, I was hoping you could point me in the right direction. I am looking to put together a two tank DI system in my garage for washing my cars and eliminating water spots. Can you help me with an economical system? If I order the components from you, I can install myself at home.
Answer
Thanks for asking.
I have a collection of classic muscle cars so I have tons of experience with this.
Your best bet is actually no to use deionization but instead to use Reverse Osmosis. It is spot fee and it makes the color pop because it is not as aggressive and deionized water which will cause rust because it is a bit too pure. RO is also significantly less expensive to operate. DI is cheaper to start but doesn’t last long and is expensive since you cant regenerate it. Where DI is about $1-$2 per gallon, RO is less than $0.10 per gallon.
To get started you would pick and RO and a Storage Bladder. You need to decide how much and how fast you want to purify water.
I use a 500 gallon per day RO. Not because I use 500 gallons, but the flow rate makes refilling the bladder much faster.
