Question
I have a 250 gal tank to store water What do I put in the water to make sure it stays safe to drink and how long do I store the water before I need to change it
Answer
Stored purified water is really no different that milk when it comes to the amount bacteria growth. They tell you to never drink stagnant water for that very reason. It is not a good idea to store it more than a day or so unless you recirculate it through ultraviolet sterilization. If it has chlorine in it, then it is good until the chlorine dissipates. If it doesn’t, you would have to have some kind of chlorine injection or the UV Light or other filtration to keep the bacteria levels in check. This is why all municipal water has chlorine added.
