Question
Hi Amy, Can you help me understand the difference between deionized water and reverse osmosis water and where each is used?
Answer
The short answer is Deionization : Is a process that uses chemical magnets that trade dissolved metals for water molecules. Mixed Deionization removes 100% of metals. Deionization only removed dissolved metals. More info on deionization can be found here : https://www.apswater.com/article.asp?id=321&title=What+is+DI+Water+ Reverse Osmosis uses a screen that allow water to pass through it but not dissolved metals. Reverse Osmosis removes roughly 95% or dissolved minerals but that number is an average. Reverse Osmosis removed dissolved meters, organic chemicals, Bacteria, particulated and pyrogens. More information on Reverse Osmosis can be found here : https://www.apswater.com/article.asp?id=39&title=About+Reverse+Osmosis+Systems and here https://www.apswater.com/article.asp?id=76&title=Reverse+Osmosis+Basics and here https://www.apswater.com/article.asp?id=169&title=What+are+the+Stages+in+my+Reverse+Osmosis+Water+system
