Shopping for best deal on DI mixed bead resin. Feed water is 250 ppm TDS (RO from seawater, no chlorine). What grade is most economical for TDS of this type. We only need spot free water (<40 ppm). Will nuclear grade last long enough in our application to be economical given the higher cost? We have storage constraints so a longer media life is important. We require 1 cu ft per charge. Also shopping for 2 ea 8x20 FRP tanks with riser, diffuser, cap etc.
Answer
You would be better served to use a separate bed than a mixed bed. Since you do not want to remove all ions, mixed bed would be over kill and a lot more expensive.
You can use 50% Cation and 50% anion in separate tanks which will give you much higher capacity in gallons produced than mixed bed would because it allows ions to slip through.
