Question
How can I calculate resin quantity? is there equation?
Answer
You can calculate it using this cylinder calculator https://www.apswater.com/cylinders.asp The formula is the same for calculating the area of a cylinder. Calculate volume of a cylinder: V = πR2H (pi x R2 x height) a 9" x 42" tank would be : 4.5 X 4.5 = 20.25 20.25 X 3.14 = 63.585 63.585 x 42 = 2670.57 2670.57 in3 / 1728 = 1.5 Ft3 You have to know what type of device you are filling to know how much. Backwashing devices usually only fill 50%-60% while exchange tanks like deionizer fill all the way to the top. THe amount of empty space in the cylinder is called the "Freeboard" and is necessary to allow the media to separate during regeneration or backwashing.
