Question
I was just given Fleck 2510 softener timer and tank, and would like to use it for a charcoal filter for the drinking water, coffee, and sodas in my restaurant. I know what media to use, and how to fill it. I believe that you sell the activate charcoal media, correct? I would like to know if I can use the 2510 to time backwashing the filter media. My thought was to add pins for a longer backwash time, and remove the pins for the brine and rinse portions of the cycle. Per the control valve assembly parts breakdown, replace the brine injector parts 12-18 with the optional backwash parts. I don't think I understand how I would set the either the flow meter or the timer for an every 12 day back wash. I believe that the backwash flow for the filter should be 5 gals per minute. Perhaps there is a way to set the demand regeneration control to accomplish this.
Answer
it is not a problem. 1. plug the brine draw port. 2. put the backwash at 20-30 minutes 3. shorten the brine draw to lowest. 4. set regen to every 2 days or less. The more backwash, the less bacteria that will quickly grow ion the water. That will do it.
